  • 1/2 kg fish
  • 5 shallot / small onion
  • 1 Teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 Cup Thick coconut milk
  • 1 Cup coconut milk Medium thick
  • 4 green chilli
  • 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp Chilly powder
  • 2.5 tbsp coriander powder
  • 4 Cocum ( Kudam Puli)
  • curry leaves
  • salt


  1. First we have to Soak cocum or kudampili in 4 tbsp salted warm water for 15 minutes.

  2. Heat oil in a pan.

  3. Saute small onion , ginger , green chilly and curry leaves.

  4. Once onion turned light brown, add turmeric, chilly and coriander powder

  5.  Keep it in low flame. Saute it well.

  6. Add thick and medium coconut milk. 

  7. Add water in which cocum was soaked. 

  8. Taste the mixture and add soaked cocum pieces as required. 

  9. Add enough salt. Keep it in low flame.

  10. boil it and then add cleaned fish pieces. 

  11. Cook it till gravy is consistent.

  12. It would take around 20 minutes.

  13. Garnish with fried small onions and curry leaves.

The cook time of fish changing depending on the type and size of fish that we used.
