Semiya Payasam

semiya payasam is a quick recipe which can be sweet or dessert recipes or any kind of breakfast recipes .

  • 1 litre full fat milk
  • 50 gms semiya/seviyan
  • 3 tsp ghee
  • 2 tbsp almonds/badam
  • 2 tbsp kaju/cashewnuts
  • 2 tbsp kishmish/raisins
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp elaichi powder


  1. Boiling the milk.add milk into a vessel and bring it to a boil.

  2. Reduce the flame and wait until milk boils.

  3. place it aside for later use.

Making of semiya payasam:

  1. Take a pan, add 2 tsp ghee and heat it on low flame.

  2. Add dry fruits such as almonds, raisins, kaju and saute them for few seconds in low flame.

  3. Take them out on a plate.

  4. add 1 tsp ghee into the same pan.

  5. Add broken vermicelli and roast it for few minutes on low flame. stop when a slight brown color is observed and keep stirring while roasting.

  6. Add the boiled milk carefully.

  7. Mix the milk and semiya well.

  8. Cook until a boil appears.

  9. Add sugar as needed and mix well.Cook for a minute.

  10. Add elaichi powder, fried dry fruits and mix well.

  11. Cook until a thick consistency is observed.

  12. Switch off the flame,Serve in sweet bowls.

  13. Enjoy the dessert in hot or cold form.
