virtual reality vs augmented reality

Virtual reality:

Virtual reality engages the user by making them feel like they are experiencing the simulated reality firsthand, primarily by stimulating their vision and hearing. When you use VR or virtual reality technology, you are entering into a world completely different than what is physically in front of you. In other words, it is the simulation of a real-life environment that stimulates the vision and hearing of the users and allow them to experience a simulated reality.  This is almost always done through a virtual reality headset, which pairs a set of lenses with a digital screen giving the user the feeling of being in a virtual world. The smartphone gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetic sensors are used to track your heads rotation. This kind of tracking is known as  3 degrees of freedom (3DOF), because it only tracks your heads pitch, roll and yaw. You can also check some basics on Artificial Intelligence.

Augmented reality:

Augmented reality is similar to VR in that it enhances the experience of a user, but it differs in just how far it goes. AR creates a virtual world on the real world. This is the key difference: the user never loses touch with the real, physical, world during use of AR technology. AR is developed into apps and used on mobile devices to blend digital components into the real world in such a way that they enhance one another, but can also be told apart easily.Augmented reality smartphone apps will allow us to find out way down the street, see where friends are, and interact with the digital world all through the lens of the physical one. Pokemon Go is a popular example of AR which garnered more than 100 million downloads within a few weeks.

Virtual reality Vs Augmented reality:

Both the concepts, VR and AR are inverse images of one in another with what each technology seeks to accomplish and deliver for the user. While VR isolates the user and takes him/her to another world, AR users continue to dwell in the real world during their interaction with the virtual objects. The unbeatable experiences with AR and VR are reaching tipping points in terms of price and capability.AR and VR are two ends of a spectrum of this new way of interacting with the computer. It will not be replaced by other interface models.
