Prawns Biriyani

Biryani comes with many different varieties. but among all the biryani recipes, prawn biryani is the most versatile biryani recipe.

  • 300 gm prawns shelled, cleaned and washed
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ginger and garlic paste
  • 1/2 cup onion paste
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • 2 Tbsp coriander leaves chopped
  • 1/4 cup fried onions oil to pan fry
  • 1 cup rice boiled till almost done


  1. Mix ingredients like chilli powder,turmeric,salt, ginger, garlic, onion, garam masala ,1/2 cup yogurt and marinate the prawns in it, for 1/2 an hour.

  2. heat some oil in a pan and saute the prawn mixture into it over a high heat and continue until it turns to brown color.

  3. After brown color appears turn off the heat.

  4. Mix yogurt,cream,coriander,and half the fried onions.

  5. Place 1/2 the rice in a greased pan in a layer.

  6. After add the prawn mixture in a layer over this.

  7. Slightly cover with the rest of the rice.

  8. Seal the pan and place over low heat for 20-30 minutes.

  9. Garnished with the fried onions and serve it.
